Truly The One — Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 2, 2026

Last Updated: September 2, 2026

1. Introduction

Truly The One ("we," "us," "our") operates the Truly The One mobile application and related services (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account & Profile Information

When you register, we collect your name, date of birth, gender, email address, phone number, password (stored securely, never in plain text), and profile details you choose to share (bio, photos, occupation, religion, education, and similar preferences you provide).

2.2 Identity Verification Information

All users are required to verify their identity before accessing matches. We use a third-party identity verification provider (Veriff) to confirm your government-issued ID and a live selfie match. Veriff processes this information on our behalf under its own privacy and security practices; we receive and store only the verification result (verified/not verified), your verified name, date of birth, and ID type — we do not store copies of your ID document or biometric scan ourselves.

2.3 Photos

Profile photos you upload are stored securely via our cloud storage provider (Amazon Web Services S3).

2.4 Location Information

We collect approximate location (derived from information you provide or device location services, where permitted) to power distance-based matching and local event features.

2.5 Payment Information

Subscription and one-time purchases are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full payment card number; Stripe handles this in compliance with PCI-DSS standards. We retain records of your subscription tier, billing history, and transaction status.

2.6 Messages & Communications

We store messages you send through the Service to enable the messaging feature, support moderation and safety review (including in response to user reports), and maintain conversation history.

2.7 Device, Usage & Push Notification Information

We collect device type, app usage data, and a push notification token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver notifications about matches, messages, and account activity.

2.8 Reports & Moderation Records

If you report another user, or are reported, we retain records of the report, its resolution, and related account status (including any resulting suspension) to maintain platform safety. This includes enforcement of the conduct prohibited under our Acceptable Use Policy and Section 7 ("Prohibited Conduct") of our Terms of Service, such as trafficking, CSAM and harm to minors, impersonation, and other illegal acts.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

4. How We Share Your Information

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 6).

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted password storage, secure data transmission, and access controls, to protect your information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is strictly for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. All users must pass identity verification confirming their age before accessing the Service.

9. International Users

Truly The One currently operates in the United States. If we expand to additional countries, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect applicable regional data protection requirements (such as GDPR) before the Service becomes available in those regions.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email prior to the change taking effect.

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, Law Enforcement Guidelines (which explains how we handle legal requests for user information, including the categories of information that may be available), and Refund Policy.
